OUR PROVEN 3-STEP DESIGN PROCESS
TEMPLATE • FORM • FINISH
The process to create a Solid Rock Concrete Design for your home or business begins with an in-depth analysis of both your design goals and your functional needs. From there, we build a template that illustrates the major features of your design. Then, we build the intricate mold of your design. Finally, the finishing process includes letting the concrete cure and then adding customized grinding and polishing specific to your design.
1TEMPLATE
Like granite fabricators, this is very important to get a proper and accurate template. The template is used to identify the area the countertop will be and any design element that will be used in the finished product. The template is then used to create the mold which will be later filled with concrete.
2FORM
The form becomes the challenge because it is an upside down, reversed form application. Knock-outs for sinks and faucets, cutting board rails, drain troughs, drain rails, aggregates, inlays and any other design element that will be in the countertop must be placed in the form. Rebar and wire mesh is needed for strength and support.
3FINISH
Finishing the project involves processing the surface to begin exposing the aggregate allowing the true beauty of concrete to appear. This is achieved by wet polishing using a planetary polisher. After the desired effect is achieved, a penetrating sealer is applied, topped off with a wax.
ASK SOLID ROCK CONCRETE DESIGN
We are just a phone call away if you ever have any questions with your project
Concrete will dull the finest cutlery and will eventually damage your protecting sealer. We recommend using a cutting board.
The concrete itself can take the heat, but the aggregate that is used in the mix may not be able to withstand the heat and may pop – causing a void. Also, the heat may harm the sealer, so a hot pad or trivet is recommended.
